How to Read Hazard Maps (Inland Flooding and River Flooding)

Flood and Landslide Hazard Map (Created March 2025)

Flood and Landslide Hazard Maps show the inundation areas and depths that would occur if major rivers like the Chikuma River overflowed their banks (breached their levees) due to the largest possible rainfall event (assumed maximum rainfall: roughly a once-in-a-thousand-years rainfall amount), as simulated by inundation modeling. They also display landslide hazard warning zones and special warning zones.

Check the conditions for your own area and consider safe locations and evacuation routes in advance to protect yourself from disasters caused by heavy rain.

Disaster Prevention Map (Created March 2025)

Disaster prevention maps show facilities used for disaster prevention, such as evacuation shelters and fire hydrants.

Inland Flood Hazard Map (Created March 2025)

The inland flood hazard map uses flood simulation to show the inundation areas and flood depths expected when the maximum conceivable rainfall (equivalent to approximately a once-in-a-millennium rainfall event) exceeds the stormwater drainage capacity of the sewer system, resulting in inland flooding.
